Learning Disabilities and Parenting

Dr. Collins sees temper tantrums often associated with children with learning disabilities or ADHD. Typically these tantrums can be signs that the child's brain is being overwhelmed by everything happening at one time or the chaos of an event.

The situation is often complicated by the fact that the child's brain cannot process all of this sensory information and figure out how to deal with the situation in a calm manner.

These times are very difficult for those around them, and sometimes it feels like there are no easy solutions. The good news is that there are therapies that address the information overload or sensory disorder in the brain.
